Shelter also gave their shade
But in the dark I have no name
So leave that click in my head
And I will remember the words that you said
Left a clouded mind and a heavy heart
But I was sure we could see a new start
Slate gray clouds shrouded the sky like a blanket would cover a two leg on this cold day. The wind barred down from the mountains, whipping around bushes and bending trees. It seemed if water was coming from the sky, it would be frozen. Still water on the ground had a thin layer of clear ice over it, creating threachous conditions for anyone to be out. Not that Abyss cared. He preferred to walk alone, in the dangerous and terrible cold. It was thrilling, and at the same time calming. The cold didnt bother him. The wind didnt bother him. Other cats bothered him though. They mostly left him alone because of his appearance, but some brave souls would still try to talk to him. They didnt know one little slip up could send him on a rampage that would end their existence. Normally he could control it. But one wrong word could end everything. They didnt know that. But he did.
He padded along the forest, the trees giving him shelter against the wind. His coat, the color of the sky above him, ruffled from the wind and rippled from his muscles. He was a strong tomcat, one of massive size. He had long, stable legs that gave him both and power speed. He was bred from two assassins, two creatures that fell in love, two beasts both engineered for killing. He, and all his siblings, were built the same way. Lean, honed, and geared for battle. He hated and loved how he was built, however. It kept him safe, kept him protected. He had lost very few fights in his past, and those were all from when he was younger. There was very few cats he'd actually be scared to fight. One of those was his mother. He closed his eyes at the thought of her, causing a brief pause in his step. When he opened his eyes, all thoughts of her were gone. He hated his body, too, however. It kept cats away. And though he knew the solitude was for their own good, it was not an easy life to live alone.
He padded along the clan border, the one which he believed they called Riverclan. He normally didnt travel this close to the clan cats, but today his paws seemed to have other plans for him. He was well on his side of the border at the top of their territory, but he knew they were getting increasingly hostile to everyone. Even harmless creatures like him. Hmph. Harmless. That's like a hawk calling himself a friend to mice. He knew very well that he was not harmless. And there was no way to sell it if a clan cat did happen across him. He could only hope to come across one who wasn't a hostile egotistical piece of mouse-dung. He liked using their insults. It made him feel very at home here. Though he knew he was far from home. Do I even have a home? He thought about it briefly, and realized he didnt. The only home he had was destroyed when he found his fathers managed body. It was destroyed when his mother turned into a different cat. It was destroyed when the city led to everything he knew being a lie.
Here he was. A hopeless wander, just trying to stay alive. He fought for life everyday. And today was no different.A B Y S S
